Health authorities in Australia have raised a significant alert concerning a measles diagnosis linked to Sydney Airport. The notification was issued by NSW Health after a traveler, who recently returned from Southeast Asia, was found to be infectious.
Details of the Measles Alert
The measles alert pertains specifically to instances between December 27, 2025, and December 30, 2025.

Symptoms to Monitor
Conrad Moreira, Acting Director of Public Health for Western Sydney Local Health District, emphasized the importance of monitoring for measles symptoms. Symptoms can appear up to 18 days after exposure, and those who were in contact with the infectious person should be vigilant until January 17, 2026.
- Fever
- Sore eyes
- Runny nose
- Cough
- Red, blotchy rash spreading from head and face
Vaccination Importance
Mr. Moreira urged the community to verify their vaccination status. He noted that the measles vaccine can prevent the disease if administered shortly after exposure.
It’s particularly critical for individuals born after 1965 to ensure they have received two doses of the measles vaccine, especially prior to engaging in international travel. Ongoing measles outbreaks are occurring in certain regions worldwide, reinforcing the need for vigilance.
