Columbia police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with a shooting and carjacking incident at Shoppes at Stadium. The arrest took place following an event on Saturday night that resulted in multiple charges against the juvenile.

Details of the Incident

The shooting occurred at Dick’s Sporting Goods around 7 p.m. Police reported that no injuries resulted from the incident. Authorities believe the suspect initially carjacked a vehicle in the parking lot before fleeing the scene.

Charges Filed Against the Suspect

The juvenile faces several serious charges:

  • Three counts of first-degree assault
  • First-degree property damage
  • Vehicle hijacking
  • Two counts of unlawful use of a weapon
  • Two counts of armed criminal action

Pursuit and Arrest

After the shooting, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A located the suspect. He was spotted driving a gray Nissan Altima southbound on U.S. 65 in Pettis County around 8 p.m. Troopers attempted to pull over the vehicle at 8:16 p.m. The suspect, however, fled, resulting in a pursuit.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect crashed the vehicle on Route V near Bahner Road. Law enforcement took him into custody at approximately 8:19 p.m.

Ongoing Investigation

Columbia police have confirmed that they are no longer searching for additional suspects, believing this juvenile was the sole participant in the incident. The investigation remains active as authorities gather more information.
