LSU football has made a significant move to enhance its offense by signing Raycine Guillory, a transfer running back from Utah. This addition comes as the team seeks to address a shortage in the running back position.

Player Profile: Raycine Guillory

Raycine Guillory is a three-star recruit, ranked No. 478 in the 2025 class by 247Sports. Standing at 5 feet 9 inches and weighing 190 pounds, he brings fresh potential to the Tigers’ roster. After redshirting his freshman year at Utah, Guillory has four years of eligibility remaining.

Current Running Back Situation at LSU

As of now, LSU has only one scholarship running back on its roster, freshman Harlem Berry. Berry has shown loyalty to the program during recent coaching transitions. With the ongoing search for additional running backs in the transfer portal, former UC Davis standout Carter Vargas has also been hosted by LSU.

  • Harlem Berry: Currently the only scholarship running back.
  • Raycine Guillory: Newest addition to the backfield.
  • Carter Vargas: Potential transfer from UC Davis.

Guillory’s previous recruiting journey included a visit to Ole Miss when head coach Lane Kiffin and running backs coach Kevin Smith were part of the program. Last season at Utah, Guillory had one carry for four yards, demonstrating limited playing time.

Transfer Portal Developments

The Tigers are facing the departure of several running backs, as four players have announced their intent to enter the transfer portal:

  • Sophomore Caden Durham
  • Junior Kaleb Jackson
  • Sophomore Ju’Juan Johnson
  • Freshman JT Lindsey

Despite these departures, Harlem Berry has agreed to stay with the team, finalizing a new deal recently. Guillory marks the second transfer to join LSU’s recruiting efforts this season, following Hawaii wide receiver Jackson Harris, who committed after a visit to Baton Rouge.

Rebuilding the Offense

Under the guidance of Kiffin and offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., LSU is focused on rebuilding its offense. The team aims to improve its scoring, which averaged 22.8 points per game last season. The addition of Guillory is seen as a crucial step in this effort.
