Tynan Lawrence, a top contender for the 2026 NHL Draft, has joined the Boston University Terriers. The 17-year-old center transferred from the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks during the 2025-26 season. This move marks a significant step in his emerging hockey career.
Impressive Record with Muskegon Lumberjacks
Before his transfer, Lawrence played 13 games with the Lumberjacks, scoring 10 goals and accumulating 17 points. He missed the first part of the season due to an injury. Last year, he had a standout performance, netting 25 goals and 54 points over 56 games. His achievements contributed to the Lumberjacks winning the league title, and he earned playoff MVP honors.
Ranked Prospects and Future Potential
As the unanimous top center for the upcoming draft, Lawrence is currently ranked fourth overall in Daily Faceoff’s latest draft rankings. His strong, rugged playing style has demonstrated his ability to dominate games independently.
A native of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Lawrence has spent a considerable amount of time in the United States. Prior to his time with Muskegon, he excelled in the Shattuck St. Mary’s prep school program. Additionally, he was drafted tenth overall by the QMJHL’s Chicoutimi Saguenéens but opted to play in the USHL instead.
Commitment to Boston University
Lawrence committed to Boston University on July 31, 2024. Initially, he was expected to join the team in fall 2025. However, circumstances have led to his early integration into the program.
