Sydney Sweeney is set to return as a lead actress and executive producer for the sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret. This film, a project from Lionsgate, continues the story from the successful The Housemaid, based on the second novel in Freida McFadden’s trilogy. Renowned director Paul Feig, who helmed the first film, is also returning for this installment.

Sydney Sweeney’s Role and Executive Production

Although Sweeney has not yet signed a formal acting contract, Lionsgate aims for her to reprise her role as Millie. She has already accepted the position of executive producer for The Housemaid’s Secret. Fellow actress Amanda Seyfried, who stars in the first film, also holds an executive producer title for the sequel. While Seyfried’s character is not in the second book, the possibility of her return remains open.

Production and Box Office Success

The new film aims to capitalize on the success of The Housemaid, which grossed $75 million domestically and a total of $133 million globally. This impressive reception continues as international releases are scheduled through January. The script for The Housemaid’s Secret will again be adapted by screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine, who previously worked on the first film.
