Severn Trent Water Plans Evesham Sewage Works Expansion
Severn Trent Water has announced plans for the expansion of the Evesham Sewage Works. This initiative aims to enhance the facility’s long-term sustainability and reliability.
Details of the Expansion Plan
The expansion will encompass an area surrounding the existing sewage treatment works located off Back Lane. Severn Trent intends to acquire additional land to the north and west of the current site.
Security Measures
- A 2.1-meter high-security fence will be installed around the entire perimeter.
- The facility aims to ensure safety while being considerate of the surrounding Cotswolds National Landscape.
Environmental Considerations
The development plans adhere to environmental standards, given that it lies within the Severn and Avon Vales National Character Area. Documents submitted state that tree and hedgerow planting will occur along the fencing to provide screening.
- Selected species will provide year-round coverage.
- This greenery will help mitigate the visual impact of the fencing and the site itself.
Traffic and Consultation
During the construction phase, there may be a minor increase in traffic to the site. However, post-expansion vehicle movements are expected to remain similar to current levels.
The public consultation period regarding these plans will close on January 6.
