Arizona is preparing for significant weather changes as two storm systems are set to impact the state. First Alert Weather Days have been declared for Wednesday and Thursday.

Weather Forecast Overview

Temperatures are expected to drop sharply. After reaching highs in the lower 70s, Wednesday will see a decrease to around 60 degrees. The lower 60s will persist through Thursday.

Cold Overnight Temperatures

The overnight lows will be notably chilly. Thursday night temperatures are projected to be in the lower 40s, while Saturday morning may dip into the upper 30s.

Storm System Details

  • Storm #1: Arriving from the west on Wednesday, this storm will likely bring rain starting in the early afternoon and increasing in intensity by the evening.
  • Rainfall: Expected accumulation ranges between a third and half an inch across the Valley over Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Snow Forecast: In the high country, light snow is possible with snow levels around 7000 feet.

Storm #2 and Its Impact

The second storm will introduce much cooler temperatures as it moves in from the northwest. Snow levels are anticipated to drop to roughly 5000 feet.

  • Flagstaff and Northern Arizona: These areas could see between 3 to 5 inches of snow.
  • Eastern Arizona: Locations like Pinetop may receive up to 8 inches of snow, depending on the storm’s trajectory.

Looking Ahead

As the storms pass, Friday will bring more sunshine, paving the way for dry conditions over the weekend. Phoenix is forecasted to see highs around 66 degrees on Saturday, with temperatures returning to the 70s from Sunday through mid-next week.
