Arrests Made After Emergency Responders Injured in South Benfleet Crash
Police have made several arrests following a serious crash involving emergency responders in South Benfleet. Three men are being questioned in connection with the incident that occurred on the A130.
Details of the Arrests
The individuals arrested are:
- A 23-year-old man from Canvey, suspected of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, and being unfit to drive due to drink or drugs.
- A 29-year-old man from Westcliff, suspected of similar charges including possession of a Class B or C drug.
- A 39-year-old man, also from Canvey, on suspicion of causing serious injury and driving while unfit.
Injuries and Emergency Response
Two emergency responders, a police officer and a paramedic, sustained serious injuries during the crash. The collision happened on the southbound side of the A130, between the Rayleigh Spur and Sadlers Farm roundabouts. Following the accident, authorities closed the affected section of the road to investigate.
Incident Investigation
The A130 was temporarily closed between Sadlers Farm and the A1245 Bonville’s Roundabout, leading to the A13. Authorities have since reopened the roads.
