Eyewitness Account
Melissa described the moment as chaotic. “We experienced a rattle and a sense of disbelief,” she stated. Their blue Hyundai ended up in a precarious position due to the violent impacts surrounding them. Melissa suffered multiple bruises and chest soreness, while her husband endured cuts and bruises as well.
Tragic Loss
Unfortunately, not everyone involved in the pile-up escaped unharmed. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the fatality of 61-year-old Gustavo Villanueva Vargas at the crash site. His wife was hospitalized as a result of the accident.
