Essential Weekend Updates for TTC and GO Transit Services
As Toronto prepares for an extremely cold weekend with heavy snowfall predicted, public transport services including the TTC and GO Transit are set to experience significant disruptions. Authorities are urging residents to limit outdoor activities and stay safe.
Essential Updates for TTC Services
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has announced temporary changes to subway operations. Specifically, there will be no service between St. George and St. Andrew stations on Line 1 from 11 p.m. on Friday until Saturday. This interruption is due to necessary station work.
Initially, the closure was planned to extend into Sunday. However, as a result of the severe winter storm, that extension has been canceled. Regular subway services will resume on Sunday, ensuring riders can reach their destinations. The TTC warns that some bus stops in hilly regions may be closed during the storm to maintain commuter safety.

GO Transit Service Disruptions
GO Transit is also experiencing significant service changes this weekend. There will be no train service between Oakville and Mimico stations on both Saturday and Sunday. This disruption is due to the replacement of the Etobicoke Creek bridge, an essential maintenance task.
Metrolinx assures passengers that this construction is vital for ensuring safe and reliable transit services. In lieu of train service, GO buses will operate from Oakville and Clarkson stations directly to Union Station Bus Terminal, bypassing Port Credit and Long Branch stations.
Special Transit Arrangements
During this period, special trains will run hourly between Mimico and Union stations. Furthermore, regular train services will still be available between Niagara Falls and Oakville stations, offering some commuting options despite the disruptions.
As winter weather conditions prevail, both transit agencies recommend that commuters stay updated on service changes and consider alternative travel plans if necessary. By planning ahead, riders can navigate the challenges posed by the storm safely and effectively.
