Caluori Targets England Debut Within Six Months, Pursues Greatness

Caluori is setting his sights on making his England debut within the next six months. He has been vocal about his ambition to excel in rugby and achieve greatness. His ultimate goal includes winning trophies with Saracens and the England national team.

Goals and Aspirations

Caluori’s short-term objective is to secure a spot in the 2027 Rugby World Cup. However, he faces stiff competition from other players, including:

  • Immanuel Feyi-Waboso
  • Tommy Freeman
  • Tom Roebuck
  • Elliot Daly (Saracens)
  • Henry Arundell (Bath)
  • Cadan Murley (Harlequins)

Despite this competitive environment, he draws inspiration from Henry Pollock, who successfully transitioned from the under-20s to the senior national team. Pollock scored twice off the bench in the final match against Wales during the last Six Nations.

Learning from Mentors

Caluori has learned from his experiences in training, including insights from former England captain Owen Farrell. After returning to Saracens, Farrell emphasized the importance of consistent effort in training.

Caluori recalls a day when he struggled during a tackling drill due to feeling under the weather. Farrell challenged him to maintain high performance regardless of circumstances, advising that motivation should not wane during tough training days.

Performance and Focus

This season, Caluori has made an impressive impact, scoring 12 tries in 14 matches. Yet, he is keenly aware of the need to strengthen his defensive skills to prepare for the rigors of international play.

He notes, “At the Prem level, you might escape some errors, but at Test level, the margins are extremely tight. One mistake could determine the outcome of a game.”

As Caluori pursues his goal of reaching the international stage, he remains dedicated to honing his skills and learning from his teammates and mentors.
