LEC Adjusts Start Time 15 Minutes Earlier

Riot Games has announced a change in the start time for the LEC Versus tournament, moving it 15 minutes earlier. The Pick and Ban phase will now commence at 16:45 CET. This adjustment is part of the official schedule published for Week 2 of the EMEA league.

Reason for the Shift in Start Time

According to LEC Commissioner Artem Bykov, this decision was made after the broadcast team noticed extended show durations during the first week. The shift aims to address the longer-than-expected run times caused by six match series per day and an overall increase in game duration.

Current data shows that the average game length in the league is just under 34 minutes, based on statistics from the Games of Legends platform. Additionally, changes regarding pre-recorded drafting and required match breaks contributed to shows often exceeding five hours, with some matches concluding past 22:00 CET.

Details from the Commissioner

Bykov tweeted, “A couple of updates this year have contributed to longer showtimes, including the additional match during the LEC Versus Group Stage and the removal of pre-recorded drafting based on feedback from pro teams and fans.”

Updated Schedule

The new schedule has set the ready check for teams at 16:30 CET, with matches officially starting at 16:45. Fans can look forward to the action returning on Saturday.
