Grégory Doucet Stagnates in Lyon Polls; Jean-Michel Aulas Remains Unchallenged
A recent poll has revealed that Lyon’s political landscape remains largely unchanged. The survey, conducted by OpinionWay for El-Balad, shows significant implications for the upcoming municipal elections in Lyon and the metropolitan area.
Grégory Doucet’s Stagnation
Grégory Doucet, the current mayor of Lyon and a member of the ecological party, is experiencing stagnation in his approval ratings. Despite his efforts to engage the public since the beginning of 2026, Doucet’s support remains at 25% in terms of voting intentions as reported in January. This level of support has not shifted since December.
Key Polling Insights
The poll was conducted from January 12 to 19, amidst Doucet’s efforts to propose initiatives such as an anti-incivility brigade, citizen voting, and commitments to 30% social housing. Additionally, he held a major public meeting at Le Sucre, which attracted 800 attendees.
- Current Voting Intentions:
- Grégory Doucet: 25%
- Jean-Michel Aulas: 47%
- Alexandre Dupalais (UDR-RN): 10%
- Anaïs Belouassa-Cherifi (LFI): 8%
- Georges Képénékian: 4%
- Nathalie Perrin-Gilbert: 3%
- Raphaëlle Mizony (NPA): 3%
- Delphine Briday (Lutte Ouvrière): less than 1%
Jean-Michel Aulas’ Strong Position
Contrasting Doucet’s situation, Jean-Michel Aulas, the Coeur Lyonnais candidate, has regained lost ground, achieving 47% of voting intentions. Aulas appears to be shielded from external criticisms and controversies.
Other Candidates and Their Prospects
Alexandre Dupalais maintains his position with 10% support, potentially qualifying him for the second round. Meanwhile, Anaïs Belouassa-Cherifi suffers a setback, dropping to 8%, which signifies the challenges LFI faces in the current political climate.
Georges Képénékian remains below the necessary threshold to merge lists for a second-round candidacy, currently polling at 4%. Nathalie Perrin-Gilbert continues to decline, now at 3%, a figure she shares with Raphaëlle Mizony. Delphine Briday is trailing with less than 1% support.
The results of the second-round poll for the municipal elections in Lyon will be released later today on El-Balad, offering further insights into the evolving political dynamics in the city.
