Sturmay and Black Advance to Scotties Tournament of Hearts Playoffs
Christina Black and Selena Sturmay have advanced to the Page 3/4 playoff of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Their victories came during qualifying matches held on Friday evening in Mississauga. Black triumphed over fellow Nova Scotian Taylour Stevens with an 11-6 win, while Sturmay defeated Manitoba’s Beth Peterson 10-4.

Both teams are set to face each other on Saturday afternoon. In the Page 1/2 playoff, Canada’s Kerri Einarson will meet Manitoba’s Kaitlyn Lawes later that same evening.

Black expressed her eagerness to keep competing, stating, “We just want to play as many games as possible.” Sturmay shared similar sentiments, emphasizing their gratitude for the opportunity to represent Canada. “We’re just ready to leave it all out there,” she said.
Playoff Qualification Details
The winner of the Black-Sturmay matchup will move on to the Sunday semifinal. The loser will face the defeated team from the Einarson-Lawes match. Black stressed the importance of remaining calm and focused during their matchup. “We’ve just gotta play like we can and be patient,” she advised.
In the earlier games on Friday, Einarson won against Peterson with a score of 8-5, while Lawes narrowly defeated Black 8-6 with her last throw. Notably, Einarson and Rachel Homan have been finalists in the last nine Tournament of Hearts events.
