Vonn to Compete in Olympics Despite ACL Rupture
Olympic ski champion Lindsey Vonn is determined to compete in the upcoming Winter Olympics despite facing a significant injury. Vonn recently suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture, along with meniscus damage and bruising, while skiing in the Alpine Ski World Cup in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Although this incident raises questions about her ability to compete, Vonn remains hopeful and is focusing on making a comeback.
Vonn’s Commitment to Compete
Vonn expressed her intent to reach the start gate for the Olympic events. She stated that making it there would be a “pretty good comeback,” even if she can only participate in limited events. “This is not an unknown for me, I’ve done this before,” she remarked, showing her determination to push through the adversity.

During a downhill event in Crans-Montana, Vonn lost control while coming out of a jump, leading to her severe injury. Recovery and Performance Assessment
Vonn is taking her recovery “day by day.” She emphasized that she feels better now than she has after previous injuries. However, she is uncertain about her participation in the team and Super-G events scheduled for February 10 and 12, respectively.
