Kyle Falconer Unveils Solo Album ‘Lovely Night Of Terror’ Featuring Pete Doherty
Kyle Falconer, the frontman of The View, is set to release his new solo album titled “Lovely Night Of Terror.” This project is scheduled to drop on March 27, 2024, through Modern Sky and Run On Records. Fans can already pre-order the album and enjoy its lead single, “Midas Touch,” which features collaboration with notable artist Pete Doherty.
Kyle Falconer’s Musical Journey
This upcoming album marks Falconer’s fourth solo endeavor, following his previous releases: “No Thank You” (2018), “No Love Songs For Laura” (2021), and “The One I Love The Most” (2022). In crafting “Lovely Night Of Terror,” he teamed up with producer Andy Gannon, known for his work with Courteeners and DMA’S, recorded at La Sierra Casa.
Collaboration with Pete Doherty
The lead single, “Midas Touch,” showcases a departure from the artists’ traditional indie styles, incorporating pop and R&B influences. Falconer expressed his excitement about collaborating with Doherty, noting how he wanted a vocalist outside of typical pop circles. He recalls a memorable moment backstage during a Doherty concert where they connected creatively.
Album Themes and Inspirations
Falconer delves into various themes throughout “Lovely Night Of Terror.” He explores subjects such as regret, self-expectations, and personal struggles. The creation of the album was invigorated by family experiences; he often played new tracks for his wife and children, which added a unique joy to the process.
The recording sessions took place in a remote Spanish countryside during December 2024. Falconer noted the serene environment contributed to the album’s distinctive vibe. He aims to blend dark lyrical themes with a sense of happiness, describing his artistic style as an oxymoron — dark yet joyful.
