Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland to Shut More Branches: Is Yours Closing?
Lloyds Banking Group has announced a significant reduction in its branch network, impacting its Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland locations. Starting from May, a total of 95 branches will close by March 2027. This follows a closure of 49 branches scheduled for October and the previous year’s announcement of 136 branch closures.
Details of the Closures
The breakdown of the upcoming branch closings is as follows:

- 31 Halifax branches
- 11 Bank of Scotland branches
After these closures, Lloyds will retain 610 branches, maintaining its status as the UK’s largest mortgage provider. The exact number of staff affected has not been released, but employees from the closed branches will be offered alternative roles within the organization.
Reasons for Closure
As customer preferences shift toward online banking, physical branches are becoming less feasible. Over 21 million customers currently utilize Lloyds’ smartphone apps as their primary banking method.
