Juliette Pelchat: The Versatile Snowboarder with Multiple Talents

Juliette Pelchat is making waves in the snowboarding world. At just 21 years old, this Canadian snowboarder has already made a name for herself with a diverse career. Her family deeply influences her love for snowboarding, making it a shared passion. Hailing from Whistler, British Columbia, Juliette began skiing at the age of three, thanks to her father, JF Pelchat, who introduced her to snowboarding.

Family Roots in Snowboarding

JF Pelchat, a professional snowboarder, moved to Whistler in 1993 when it was less crowded. He and his friends formed the Wildcats, a relaxed group that focused on creating snowboarding films while promoting a sense of community. This background laid the foundation for Juliette’s own journey.

Influences and Aspirations

Juliette, also known as “Jubes,” attributes much of her motivation to her father’s philosophy of enjoying snowboarding while challenging oneself. “You can have fun while doing difficult and professional tricks,” she states. Juliette maintains a strong connection to her roots, participating in events that promote snowboarding for girls and working to inspire others.

Entrepreneurial Ventures

At 15, Juliette, along with her sister Amalia, launched skateboarding events for girls in Whistler. This initiative led to the establishment of their business, the Real Wild Kittens, aimed at encouraging female participation in board sports. Today, around ten employees help manage their efforts to foster community engagement.

Competitive Journey and Olympic Goals

Juliette also competes regularly in snowboarding events, especially in slopestyle. Recent achievements include winning the NORAM circuit and earning qualifications for the Olympics. In the lead-up to the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, she set her sights on slopestyle, placing 12th in the qualifications. Her focus on the Olympics has not hindered her dedication to backcountry snowboarding.

Balancing Competition and Passion

Even amidst the Olympic preparations, Juliette finds joy in her sport. While her peers opt for rest, she chooses to hit the slopes with family, demonstrating her passion for snowboarding. Her father emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between competition and enjoying the experience.

Future Aspirations

  • Juliette aims to become the best snowboarder in the world.
  • The Olympics represent a stepping stone in her snowboarding journey.
  • She is committed to competing in future backcountry events post-Olympics.

Juliette Pelchat’s journey illustrates a blend of talent, community, and passion. As she prepares for the Olympic finals, her love for snowboarding remains at the forefront of her aspirations.
