Sarah McLachlan, Allison Russell, and Cameron Whitcomb are set to perform at the 55th Juno Awards. This prestigious event will take place in Hamilton on March 29, 2026. The performance will feature a special tribute to legendary musician Joni Mitchell, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award this year.
Tribute to Joni Mitchell
Joni Mitchell is celebrated for her profound impact on songwriting and music globally. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences commended her for reshaping the music landscape. Mitchell has won five Juno Awards, including a win for Best Vocal Jazz Album for her 2001 work, “Both Sides Now.”
Both Sarah McLachlan and Allison Russell have gained musical experience as part of the “Joni Jam,” a group formed by Brandi Carlile. This ensemble performed alongside Mitchell after her recovery from a brain aneurysm in 2015. During the 2025 SOCAN Awards, Russell performed “Both Sides, Now,” where Mitchell received the Global Impact Award. McLachlan is known for covering Mitchell’s songs, particularly “River,” featured on her 2006 album “Wintersong.”
Cameron Whitcomb’s Juno Debut
Cameron Whitcomb, a rising country artist from Nanaimo, British Columbia, will make his Juno debut this year. He has received five nominations, trailing only Tate McRae and Justin Bieber. Whitcomb gained fame after competing on “American Idol” in 2022 and is recognized for his authentic song-writing that resonates with fans.
