Martin Short Postpones Comedy Tour Following Daughter’s Passing

Martin Short has announced the postponement of his comedy tour alongside Steve Martin due to the untimely death of his daughter, Katherine Short. Katherine, who was adopted by Short and his late wife, Nancy Dolman, passed away on Monday at the age of 42. The Los Angeles coroner reported that her death was a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Tour Postponement Details

All performances in February for “The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short” have been postponed. Initially, the tour was set to start on Friday at Milwaukee’s Miller High Life Theatre, followed by a performance at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis. Notifications from both venues indicated that tickets purchased will be honored for current and rescheduled dates.

A statement on the Milwaukee venue’s website read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Steve Martin & Martin Short’s show, originally scheduled for Friday, February 27th in Milwaukee, has been postponed.” The Orpheum issued a similar notification regarding its upcoming show.

Future Tour Dates

While the February shows have been postponed, the duo’s upcoming tour scheduled through October remains under consideration. The next performance is slated for March 13 at Dar Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., with no delay notice currently in effect.

Katherine Short’s Legacy

Katherine Short earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and gender sexuality studies from New York University in 2006. She later obtained a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California (USC). Katherine worked at UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital prior to establishing her private practice.

In a statement, Short’s representative expressed the family’s profound grief, saying, “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.” Martin Short and Nancy Dolman, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2010, also shared two sons, Henry and Oliver.
