Burger King Revamps Whopper Following Customer Complaints
In response to customer feedback, Burger King is revamping its signature Whopper for the first time in nearly a decade. As part of this overhaul, Burger King will introduce these upgrades in over 7,000 locations across the United States starting this week. President of Burger King US and Canada, Tom Curtis, highlighted that the new packaging will prevent the frequently reported issue of “smashed burgers.”

The cost for franchise owners to implement these upgrades is projected at an additional $4,000 per year. Despite the financial challenges, Burger King suggested that these enhancements are intended to drive sales without increasing prices. Industry expert Robert Byrne noted the complexities franchisees face, as rising labor costs contribute to their concerns.

Despite being the eighth largest fast-food chain in the U.S., Burger King has experienced a decline in customer satisfaction. Complaints about outdated stores and unappealing food have prompted the company to address these foundational issues before rolling out menu updates.

Testing for the new components involved a thorough assessment, where even unconventional ideas, like building the burger upside down, were considered. However, the team ultimately decided on familiar construction methods for consistency.
