Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube Supergroup Sues Former Partner for Fraud

Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube Supergroup Sues Former Partner for Fraud

Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube are taking legal action against a former business partner for fraud. This lawsuit follows serious allegations regarding the handling of their merchandise deals.

Mount Westmore’s Formation and Business Deal

In 2020, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Too Short, and E-40 came together to form the rap supergroup Mount Westmore. They engaged in a licensing agreement with Westside Merchandising, which they now claim made misleading promises.

Allegations Against Westside Merchandising

The group alleges that Westside misrepresented its capabilities in order to win their partnership. According to their claims, Westside offered unrealistic projections for earnings and focused mainly on retail partnerships rather than concert sales.

  • Merchandise sales reported:
    • $808,000 from concert dates
    • Over $90,000 from retail stores
    • $13,000 from online sales

Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube assert that despite receiving a substantial advance, Westside has failed to pay hundreds of thousands still owed under their contract. As a result, they are suing for unspecified damages.

Counterclaims and Ongoing Legal Disputes

Westside Merchandising initially filed a lawsuit against the four rappers in November 2024, accusing them of breaching the contract. Westside claims that the artists did not fulfill their commitment to a scheduled 60-date tour, which instead consisted of only a few performances.

  • Westside’s claims include:
    • Over $1.3 million paid to the rappers
    • Failure of the rappers to uphold contractual obligations

John Fowler, representing Westside, described the countersuit as unfounded and a distraction from their alleged breaches. He stated that the court has rejected all motions filed by the opposing team and accused them of obstructing the discovery process.

Looking Ahead

The legal battle continues as both sides prepare for court. The outcome remains uncertain for Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Too Short, and E-40 as they seek to resolve their disputes with Westside Merchandising.
