Alyssa Healy bid farewell to One Day International (ODI) cricket in spectacular fashion. In her final innings, she scored an impressive 158 runs off just 98 balls against India. This remarkable performance took place in Hobart, as Australia posted a record total of 409 runs for 7 wickets.
Historic Performance by Healy
Healy’s innings included a remarkable 27 fours and two sixes. This achievement makes her one of only six women, and the second Australian, to score multiple 150-plus runs in ODIs. Additionally, Healy is the second-fastest woman to reach 150 runs, doing so in just 95 balls.
This score is now the highest recorded for a women’s ODI match in Australia and also the highest against India. Healy’s milestone also places her among an elite group, as she joins Johmari Logtenberg as the only women to score a century in their final ODI match.
Strong Support from Teammates
Beth Mooney provided crucial support with an unbeaten 106 runs off 84 balls, marking her sixth ODI century. The pair formed a vital partnership, with a significant contribution of 145 runs between Healy and Mooney. Georgia Voll also added to the team’s tally, scoring 62 runs from 52 balls, contributing to a 104-run partnership with Healy.
Despite Australia losing four wickets for just 37 runs, Nicola Carey bolstered the innings by finishing with 34 not out from 15 deliveries. This late surge helped Australia surpass 400 runs, a rare feat in women’s cricket.
Challenges for India’s Bowling Lineup
India’s bowlers had a tough outing, with Shree Charani becoming only the third female bowler to concede over 100 runs in an ODI innings. Three Indian bowlers ended the match with more than 80 runs allowed, highlighting the challenging day for the bowlers.
