Quentin Tarantino Criticizes Rosanna Arquette for Condemning His Movie Slurs
Quentin Tarantino has fired back at actress Rosanna Arquette following her recent criticism of his films. Arquette labeled his use of racial slurs as “racist and creepy” during an interview with The Sunday Times.
Tarantino Responds to Arquette’s Critique
In the interview, published on a Saturday, Arquette discussed her experience in Tarantino’s acclaimed 1994 film, “Pulp Fiction.” While acknowledging the film’s iconic status, she expressed her disdain for what she perceives as the director’s irresponsibility in using racial slurs. “But personally … I hate it,” she stated. “I cannot stand that he has been given a hall pass. It’s not art, it’s just racist and creepy.”
Tarantino’s Reaction
On Monday, a letter from Tarantino to Arquette was obtained by Variety. In his response, he highlighted the irony of her comments, stating, “I hope the publicity you’re getting from 132 different media outlets writing your name and printing your picture was worth disrespecting me and a film I remember quite clearly you were thrilled to be a part of.”

He further accused her of lacking class and honor, emphasizing the supposed camaraderie typically shared among artistic collaborators. His closing remarks suggested he felt her motivations were cynical and detrimental to their professional relationship.
Past Criticism and Tarantino’s Stance
This incident is not the first time Tarantino has faced backlash regarding his language in films. In a 2022 interview, he dismissed such criticism, stating, “Then see something else. If you have a problem with my movies, there are other movies to go see. Apparently, I’m not making them for you.”
Arquette has not publicly responded to Tarantino’s letter at this time. The exchange highlights the ongoing conversation about the use of language in cinema and its impact on broader societal issues.
