Dubai Creek Harbour 2026

Dubai Creek Harbour is making global headlines on multiple fronts this week — from an emergency drone incident this morning to the long-awaited revival of the Dubai Creek Tower and a wave of 2026 residential handovers that are reshaping this waterfront megadistrict into one of the UAE's most dynamic destinations.

Drone Incident at Dubai Creek Harbour: Evacuations Underway Right Now

The Dubai Media Office confirmed early Thursday, March 12, 2026, that authorities are responding to an incident involving a drone that fell on a building near Dubai Creek Harbour. Officials confirmed that evacuation procedures are currently underway to ensure the safety of everyone inside the building. The relevant authorities continue to manage the situation and implement necessary precautionary measures to safeguard residents and visitors in the area. Further updates are expected as the situation is assessed.

Dubai Creek Tower Tender Coming: Beauty Over Height

Emaar founder Mohamed Ali Alabbar announced that the construction tender for the redesigned Dubai Creek Tower will be offered within the next three months. Speaking at the Dubai International Project Management Forum, Alabbar said that as Dubai reaches extraordinary heights, words are not enough and that something exceptional must be delivered. He remained tight-lipped on technical and design details, but confirmed they will not chase height for its own sake.

The 2026 version of Dubai Creek Tower moves away from its original goal of surpassing the Burj Khalifa in height. The revised concept emphasizes architectural beauty and sustainable design, repositioning the tower as a modern minaret and symbolic centerpiece of the Dubai Creek Harbour district rather than a record-breaker.

Originally unveiled in 2016 and designed by Santiago Calatrava, the tower was due for completion before Expo 2020 but was halted by the pandemic. The construction tender will now draw interest from leading global contractors as the project re-enters its active development phase. No completion timeline has been set.

Dubai Creek Tower and Dubai Square: What the Mega-Project Will Include

The tower sits at the center of the upcoming Dubai Square project, which will feature a mega-mall large enough for electric vehicles to drive through. The original design included a 360-degree viewing deck inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, a café, a central plaza, shops, a museum, and an indoor auditorium. Dubai Square is due to open within three years.

The Dubai Creek Tower represents an investment of over AED 14 billion. The rethought design focuses on sustainability and includes observation decks and lush vertical gardens. The tower is already driving up land and property values across the wider district.

Property Market Booming: 10,000 Homes Delivered, More Coming in 2026

Dubai Creek Harbour is beyond the halfway point in completing its residential build-out. Emaar had delivered 10,582 completed units as of September 2025, with an additional 7,217 homes expected to be delivered by 2029. Property transactions rose 1 percent year over year in the area, with an average price of AED 2,470 per square foot compared to AED 3,000 per square foot in the more mature Downtown Dubai.

Gross rental yields in Dubai Creek Harbour currently range from 6.5 to 7.5 percent, above the average for prime waterfront developments. Properties valued at AED 2 million or more qualify buyers for the UAE's 10-year Golden Visa.

Notable 2026 handover projects include Creek Beach Cedar, Mangrove by Emaar, and Savanna — all offering direct creek and Downtown Dubai skyline views.

Autonomous Transport and Metro Blue Line Transform Dubai Creek Harbour

Dubai Creek Harbour has been designated as one of three zones for the UAE's autonomous transport pilot. The integrated hub features multiple self-driving transport modes including the Dubai Metro, an autonomous bus, a logistics vehicle, a road-cleaning vehicle, a delivery robot, and an autonomous abra water taxi. Robotaxis were rolled out to the public within this zone in the first quarter of 2026.

Longer term, four Metro stations are planned to link Dubai Creek Harbour to both the Red and Green Lines via the Dubai Metro Blue Line, which is currently under construction and set to open in 2029. The network will include three bridges connecting Creek Island and water taxi services providing direct access to Downtown Dubai.
