Camera-Ready QWERTY Phone Gets Metal Treatment and Mid-Range Specs

Unihertz has unveiled the Titan 2 Elite, a metal-framed QWERTY keyboard phone first shown off at MWC 2026 that puts camera hardware and tactile typing front and center. The device runs Android 16 with five years of updates promised and offers two chipset options and upgraded displays and storage. Crowdfunding on Kickstarter lists a discounted base pledge and a Pro variant, with the base model slated to begin rolling out in June and the Elite Pro scheduled for October.

Key specs and hardware

The Titan 2 Elite moves away from the squarer predecessor toward a rounded, injection-molded aluminum frame finished in anodized orange or black. Buyers can choose either a mid-range Dimensity 7400 2. 6-GHz octa-core chipset paired with 256 GB of internal storage or a faster Dimensity 8400 3. 2-GHz option with 512 GB; both configurations include 12 GB of RAM. Storage can be further expanded when using a single SIM plus microSD, and the device also supports dual nano SIMs or eSIM functionality for flexibility.

On optics, the Elite equips dual 50-megapixel rear cameras — one a telephoto — and a 32-megapixel front camera, while the 4-inch AMOLED screen replaces the older LCD with a 120-Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1, 600 nits. Power comes from a 4, 050-mAh silicon-carbon battery with 33-W charging. The Kickstarter campaign lists the base model at US$397 (reduced from an expected retail price of $489) and the Pro at $479 (down from $579); the boxed package includes a charger, case, and screen protector.

Camera and keyboard: the trade-offs

The hardware spotlight is shared between the photographic system and the physical keyboard. The keyboard offers backlit tactile A–Z keys with customizable short-press and long-press shortcuts. It also supports swipe and scroll gestures to act like a trackpad for cursor movement and navigation on screen; additional layouts such as QWERTZ and AZERTY are planned for later. An extra programmable physical button can be set to launch any app, summon an AI assistant, or bring up the camera or flashlight instantly, reinforcing the device’s productivity angle.

The Elite’s compact 4-inch screen may help stretch battery life despite the modest battery capacity, and the combination of a small high-brightness AMOLED and physical keys is positioned to appeal to users who prioritize extended typing sessions and on-device productivity alongside competent imaging hardware.

What’s next

Unihertz is crowdfunding the Elite on Kickstarter, where the campaign has attracted more than $2. 2 million in pledges from nearly 5, 000 backers to date. Backers should note that all crowdfunding campaigns carry an element of risk; Unihertz has previously launched and shipped 11 other phones, and the company lists shipping windows that put the base Elite rolling out in June and the Elite Pro scheduled for October to select countries across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Watch for fulfillment progress and software updates tied to the Android 16 promise, and expect attention on how the physical keyboard and camera performance hold up once review units begin to ship.
