How Ocean-2 Works
The Ocean-2 operates by moving with the waves, forcing water into a tube that then drives a turbine to generate electricity. This unique mechanism allows for efficient energy production directly from ocean movement.
Innovative Design: Ocean-3
Building on their initial design, Panthalassa’s Ocean-3 boasts an advanced, self-propelled system. Unlike conventional data centers, Ocean-3 has no anchors or cables tethering it to the ocean floor. Comparable to an enormous Roomba, this design enhances mobility and efficiency.
Floating Data Centers
Ocean-3 also serves as a floating data center. It produces energy, processes AI computing tasks onboard, and transmits results via satellite. Sheldon-Coulson envisions a network of these units collaborating effectively, offering an alternative to land-based data centers.
Funding and Future Plans
Panthalassa has secured adequate private funding to realize its ambitious goals. The construction of the Ocean-3 units is already underway, with operations anticipated to commence offshore around August of this year.
