Arsenal F.c. Games: Burnley Visit Moved to Monday, 18 May
Arsenal F.c. games changed again this afternoon as Burnley’s visit to the Emirates Stadium was moved to Monday, 18 May, with an 8pm kick-off. The fixture had been set for Sunday, and the switch leaves supporters with less than three weeks to adjust their plans.
Burnley Visit Shifts
The move turns Arsenal’s final home game of the campaign into a Monday night fixture, with live broadcast selection in the UK by Sky Sports driving the change. For home and away fans, that means later travel, higher costs and a tougher return trip after the match.
The timing also pushes the traditional lap of appreciation to around 10:00pm. That detail has become central to the reaction because it affects the part of the evening many supporters stay for, not just the 90 minutes on the pitch.
Supporters’ Trust Response
The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust said it is “disappointed by the proposed 8:00pm Monday kick-off for Arsenal vs Burnley.” It added: “This timing creates clear difficulties for both sets of supporters, particularly those travelling or relying on public transport, and increases costs and disruption.”
It also said: “As the final home game of the season, it also means the traditional lap of appreciation will not take place until around 10:00pm, making it less accessible for many fans.” The group said it had engaged with Arsenal ahead of the most recent broadcast deal and urged Arsenal and the Premier League to do more so scheduling better reflects the needs of match-going supporters.
Arteta in Madrid
Mikel Arteta is expected to face the media in Madrid ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Atleti, but the Burnley change has already become the immediate off-pitch issue around the club. The rescheduled date gives travelling supporters the clearest practical problem to solve: a Monday 8pm start, a later finish, and a night that now runs far past the normal routine for a final home game.
Arsenal supporters who had planned for Sunday now have to reset transport, work and family arrangements around the new time. The club’s final home match is still Burnley, but the schedule around it has become the story.
