DoorDash and Dasher outages hit 5,550 reports at peak — Is Doordash Down

DoorDash and the Dasher app went down Wednesday afternoon, and is doordash down became a live question as outage reports reached 5,550 at the peak. The disruption hit both customers and delivery workers, with problems concentrated along the east and west coasts.

5,550 reports at 3:30 p.m.

The outage started around 3:30 p.m. ET and peaked around 4:00 p.m. ET. DownDetector, which tracks outages based on user reports, showed 94% of complaints tied to the app itself. It also showed 3% of users having login trouble and 2% having trouble ordering food.

New York City and Los Angeles

Reports were spread across the east and west coasts, with significant outages in New York City and Los Angeles. That meant the disruption reached large delivery markets at the same time, instead of staying confined to one region or one app screen.

Dasher app stops orders

The Dasher app is the tool delivery workers use to receive orders, so the outage hit the supply side as well as the customer side. One user wrote, "Dasher app is down right now we can’t receive any orders either. I just completed a order and they didn’t even pay me for the order cuz of it," while another said, "DoorDash since the dasher app is down, please consider compensating us dashers for the income we are losing due to this issue; especially if it lasts an hour or more,"

Reports began falling around 4:15 p.m. ET, when the total dropped to about 4,732. DoorDash has over 42 million monthly active users, and the vast majority are in the United States, so even a short outage can affect a large slice of the platform’s daily activity.

For affected customers and drivers, the immediate move is simple: wait for the app to recover before trying to place or complete another order, because the outage was still active as reports were starting to ease. The unresolved question is whether DoorDash will address driver pay tied to orders completed during the outage.
