Inoue Vs Nakatani: Inoue Defends Title at Tokyo Dome

inoue vs nakatani lands at Tokyo Dome on Saturday, with Naoya Inoue defending his undisputed junior featherweight championship against Junto Nakatani. Inoue brings a 32-0 record with 27 knockouts into the ring, while Nakatani arrives unbeaten at 32-0 with 24 knockouts.

That pairing puts No. 2 and No. 6 in ’s pound-for-pound rankings in the same title fight. It also gives Inoue a chance to add another defense to a run that already includes his fourth victory of 2025, while Nakatani steps into only his second appearance at junior featherweight.

Inoue’s December win

Inoue’s last outing came in December, when he beat David Picasso by dominant decision on scores of 119-109, 120-108 and 117-111. The performance extended a year in which he has already won four times and kept his place among the sport’s most accomplished fighters.

He is one of only three men to become undisputed in two divisions. Oleksandr Usyk and Terence Crawford are the other two.

Nakatani’s rise

Nakatani also enters off a win, edging Sebastian Hernandez in his previous fight by scores of 115-113, 115-113 and 118-110. He has held titles at junior bantamweight, bantamweight and flyweight, and his move to junior featherweight has now reached a title-fight stage.

DraftKings Sportsbook listed Inoue as a -400 favorite, but the styles around this matchup still invite a long fight. One source said the bout could go the distance, another pointed to Nakatani’s lead jab and left-handed counterpunches, and a third said Inoue should work at close range and target the body.

Tokyo Dome and DAZN

The fight is scheduled to be shown on DAZN at 3 a.m. ET. For viewers, that means the window is fixed and the stakes are already set: Inoue’s undisputed title, Nakatani’s unbeaten record and a matchup between two Japanese champions with top-six pound-for-pound placement.

Saturday’s result will settle whether Inoue keeps his grip on junior featherweight or whether Nakatani’s rise across divisions reaches the level of a title upset at Tokyo Dome.
