Savannah Bananas Sell Out Kyle Field for May 2 Banana Ball Game

The Savannah Bananas have sold out Kyle Field for banana ball on Saturday, May 2, in College Station, Texas. Fans without tickets still have options, with free community events, a downtown Bryan watch site and merchandise stops spread across town.

Kyle Field Draws the Crowd

Visit College Station expects the one-day event to generate around $18 million in direct economic impact, a figure tied to visitors who may be making their first trip to College Station. Angie Bertinot, the marketing manager for Visit College Station, said, "A lot of these folks have never been to College Station before" and "This is probably their first time here."

The game will be the largest show ever for the Savannah Bananas. That also leaves a practical problem for people who missed out on tickets: the stadium is full, and the remaining access points are the public events built around the game.

Free Events Around College Station

Players from both the Savannah Bananas and the Texas Tailgaters will appear at several meet-and-greet stops before Saturday. The first runs Friday, May 1, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Academy Sports + Outdoors, followed by a Saturday stop from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dunkin' Donuts off Wellborn Road in College Station.

A final meet-and-greet is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Aggie Park, which will also feature entertainment and music throughout the day. Bertinot said, "That’s kind of your last chance to maybe get an autograph or a photo with your favorite player before the game."

Harry's in Northgate will add its first concert on Friday night with Jason Arndt, an outfielder for the Texas Tailgaters who also performs as a country musician. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets, Watch Sites and Shopping

Fans still looking for seats are being pushed toward official sales through the Savannah Bananas website, where tickets are distributed digitally. StubHub and SeatGeek are listed as third-party options, but Bertinot warned, "If there’s people selling tickets pre-game outside the stadium, I’d probably be a little suspicious of them."

For people staying outside the game, the Palace Theater in downtown Bryan will show the game, while Visit College Station plans to be outside Kyle Field on Saturday handing out free rally towels and offering temporary tattoos. Fans can also find Savannah Bananas merchandise at Aggieland Outfitters or CC Creations, and K-Club discounts are available at nearly 10 locations across town.

Texas A&M men's baseball plays at 2 p.m. Saturday, and Texas A&M women's softball follows at 4 p.m., adding to a busy campus weekend built around a sold-out banana ball stop that has already spilled far beyond the stadium gates.
