Gyökeres Scores Twice as Arsenal Move Six Points Clear — Premier League Stats

Arsenal beat Fulham 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium, and premier league stats now show a six-point gap at the top with Manchester City still two games behind. Viktor Gyökeres scored twice, while Bukayo Saka made the opening goal in the ninth minute, scored the second himself and helped set up the third before half-time.

Saka Sets The Pace

Saka’s return to the starting XI changed the rhythm immediately. After taking time out at the end of March to rest an achilles problem, he opened the move for Gyökeres in the ninth minute, then struck Arsenal’s second goal and had a hand in the third before being taken off at half-time.

That early burst gave Arsenal control they have not always carried in the league. They reached three goals by the break, and the scoring left Fulham chasing from the first quarter of the match.

Gyökeres Hits Twenty-One

Gyökeres finished with the headline numbers. His brace took him to 21 goals for the season in all competitions, and his third goal against Fulham completed Arsenal’s first comfortable league win since the 4-1 victory at Tottenham on 21 February.

Arsenal also had a goal ruled out when Riccardo Calafiori was flagged offside in the 27th minute. Bernd Leno and the Fulham back line could not stop the pressure once Arsenal found the first opening, and Raúl Jiménez spent much of the afternoon trying to give Fulham a foothold that never came.

Manchester City Under Pressure

The result left Manchester City six points behind Arsenal at the top of the table, though City have played two games fewer. That keeps the title race tight, but Arsenal now carry the numbers that matter most: a three-goal win, a returning Saka, and a striker in Gyökeres who is finishing with authority.

City were due to kick off at Everton the following Monday night, so Arsenal’s job was to put the gap in place first. They did that by turning a sharp start into control, then control into a scoreline that gives the table a clear edge for the moment.
