Samik Bhattacharya Predicts Landslide Win for Bjp West Bengal in 2026
Samik Bhattacharya said bjp west bengal is confident of a landslide victory in West Bengal in 2026, sharpening the party’s claim that it is closing in on power in the state. Speaking outside a counting centre in Kolkata, the BJP Bengal president said the people had already rejected the Trinamool Congress government.
“People of the state have already rejected the Trinamool Congress government and, in a few hours, the overwhelming majority of the seats will confirm that. In the fight between Mamata Banerjee and the people, the people have rejected Mamata Banerjee,” Bhattacharya said. The BJP is seeking to oust the All India Trinamool Congress in 2026, while the TMC is trying to secure a fourth consecutive term.
Mamata Banerjee counts votes
On Sunday night, Mamata Banerjee urged her party workers and polling agents to stay alert and prevent foul play by the BJP on counting day. In a post on X, she alleged phased load-shedding, CCTV disruptions, and suspicious movement near strong rooms in Hooghly, Nadia, Burdwan, and parts of Kolkata.
She said she received reports from Serampore, Krishnanagar, Ausgram, and Kshudiram Anushilan Kendra, where load-shedding was being deliberately imposed. Her message asked workers to “Be vigilant. Keep watch. Stay awake at night. File complaints.”
Bhabanipur temple prayers
Earlier on Sunday, Suvendu Adhikari offered prayers at the Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Bhabanipur before vote counting. The West Bengal Leader of the Opposition said, “I offered prayers at the Lakshmi Narayan Temple. God is with us. A government that protects the interests of Sanatan Dharma is coming.”
Adhikari’s remarks and Banerjee’s warning placed counting day under close scrutiny, with each side using the lead-up to claim momentum and raise questions about the process. The immediate test is whether the seat count backs Bhattacharya’s prediction or extends the TMC’s run in the state.
