Greig Suspended 2 Games After Roughing Sean Walker

Ridly Greig was suspended by the NHL for two regular-season games on Monday after roughing Sean Walker in Game 4. That ban will keep the Ottawa Senators forward out of the start of the 2026-27 season.

Game 4 Against Carolina

The incident came midway through the second period of the Senators’ first-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes, when a skirmish broke out between both sides. Greig was seen winding up his right hand and delivering an uppercut to the body of Walker.

The suspension followed the play, not the series result. Ottawa was swept by Carolina, ending the matchup with no room left for a late response from Greig or the Senators.

Senators Start Without Greig

The practical hit for Ottawa is simple: Greig will be unavailable when the 2026-27 regular season opens. Two games is a short punishment on paper, but it carries over into the next season and removes him from the first two chances the Senators have to settle into their schedule.

Walker, a Carolina defenceman, was the player caught in the exchange that led to the discipline. The NHL’s Monday ruling turned a brief second-period flare-up into a carryover absence that Ottawa has to plan around before the new season begins.
