National Weather Service Issues American Falls Reservoir Wind Advisory
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for American Falls Reservoir on Tuesday, with northeast winds expected to reach 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. The advisory runs from 6 AM to 9 PM MDT Tuesday and covers the period when winds are expected to be strongest on the reservoir.

Michael Coats, chief meteorologist for Local News 8, said Tuesday will be breezy across the region, with north-northeast winds around 15 to 25 mph and gusts as high as 35 mph. He has forecast the weather for KIFI Local News 8 since 2006.
For people on or near American Falls Reservoir, the advisory points to a narrower set of conditions than the broader regional forecast: the strongest winds are expected over the water during the 15-hour advisory window. The National Weather Service tied that warning specifically to northeast winds and gusts, not to the rest of the Snake River Plain.
Monday Night Forecast
Before Tuesday's advisory period, a few thunderstorms are expected Monday night under mostly cloudy skies. Low temperatures in the Snake River Plain will fall to the lower 40s, with northeast winds around 10 to 15 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph.
That leaves a brief stretch of quieter weather on Wednesday, when sunny conditions and warmer temperatures are expected, with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Thunderstorms are expected to return Thursday afternoon, closing out the short midweek break.
