Anthony Pollio found 2.5 miles up Mt. Brown Trail in Montanas

Search and rescue crews found the body of Anthony Pollio in Glacier National Park in montanas on Wednesday, after he was reported missing. Pollio, 33, was from Davie, Florida, and search teams spotted his remains about two-and-a-half miles up the Mt. Brown Trail.

Mt. Brown Trail closure

The National Park Service said Pollio’s belongings were found about 2.5 miles from the trailhead, and his remains were located about 50 feet off the trail in a densely wooded area with downed timber. Glacier National Park officials said that part of the trail was closed until the investigation was finished.

Bear encounter assessment

Officials said, "His injuries are consistent with those sustained by a bear encounter" after the body was found. They also said, "wildlife and law enforcement personnel are currently assessing the area for bear activity and any ongoing public safety concerns. The investigation is ongoing."

Yellowstone incident

The Glacier National Park investigation came after two hikers were injured in a bear attack at Yellowstone National Park on Monday. Craig Lerman, a tourist from Maryland who helped one of the injured hikers, said the person had been "tore up pretty bad".

For anyone planning to hike in Glacier National Park, the closed section of the Mt. Brown Trail remains off limits while wildlife and law enforcement personnel assess bear activity and public safety concerns.
