Ronald Fisher Charged in $4,202 Aruba Vacation Cancellation

Ronald Fisher, 42, was charged after police said he impersonated his former business partner to cancel a prepaid aruba vacation worth $4,202. The cancellation was reported about three hours before departure, after Jerry Smith arrived at Kennedy Airport on March 22, 2025.

Police said Fisher used Smith’s email address and personal information to reach the travel agency by phone. Fisher later turned himself in at the Seventh Precinct and was charged with misdemeanor first-degree identity theft.

Fisher and Smith

Smith’s attorney, Matthew J. Barnes, tied the allegation to a broader dispute between the men. “The fallout of the business partners is significant and these allegations occurred during the period of that fallout,” Barnes said Thursday.

Police identified Smith as Fisher’s former business partner. Barnes also said, “My client is trying to recoup his significant losses.”

First District Court

Fisher pleaded not guilty Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip. A judge issued a temporary order of protection and released him on his own recognizance.

The case centers on a prepaid trip that had already been arranged and paid for before the cancellation call. For Smith, the immediate issue is recovery of the $4,202 loss as the criminal case moves forward alongside the separate litigation over Fisher Signs & Shirts in Southampton.
