Christian Pulisic Goes Scoreless as Milan Lose to Sassuolo

christian pulisic did not make an impact at the Mapei, and AC Milan left Sassuolo with another performance that added pressure on an attack already short on goals. He has not scored since December 28, 2025, and Milan now head toward Atalanta with just three games left and three points to recover.

Atalanta Meet Milan at San Siro

Atalanta visit AC Milan on Sunday evening at 20.45 at San Siro, where the club will try to shake off a run that has turned urgent. Milan are seventh in the second half of the season with 25 points, well below the 42 they collected in the first leg.

The slide has been sharp. Milan have lost five of their last ten matches after 24 consecutive unbeaten results, and they have scored just one goal in their last five games. The last striker goal came on March 1st against Cremonese, when Leao scored.

Santiago Gimenez Returns

Santiago Gimenez is part of the attack picture again after returning at the end of March from arthroscopic ankle surgery in December. He has made four appearances since coming back, but only for barely half an hour at most, and his last start came on October 28th in the first leg against Atalanta.

Massimiliano Allegri has tried to set expectations carefully around him. Before the Sassuolo game, he said, “When you come back from a long injury, finding your rhythm is not easy. Gimenez is working well; he's a valuable player and remains valuable regardless of how this season has gone,” and he has also said, “He'll give us a hand at the end of the season,”

Tomori Out, De Winter In

Milan will also have to adjust at the back because Tomori is out through suspension after his dismissal last Sunday. De Winter is expected to return to the starting lineup in his place.

For Milan, the problem is no longer one player or one result. Pulisic has gone scoreless since December 28, 2025, Gimenez is still building back after surgery, and the team has only one goal in its last five matches. Allegri’s line after the Sassuolo defeat summed up the stakes: “We can't throw away ten months of work like this.”
