Sidney Morin Scores Twice as Montreal Victoire Force Game 5

Sidney Morin scored twice and the Minnesota Frost beat montreal victoire 3-1 on Monday in St. Paul, forcing a fifth and final game in the LPHF semifinal. The result erased Montreal’s 2-1 series lead and kept the Frost alive in the round.

Morin finishes the comeback

Maureen Murphy had put Montreal in front 1 minute 13 seconds into the third period, and the Victoire were within one period of reaching the Walter Cup final. Morin answered later in the third with two goals, turning a one-goal deficit into a 3-1 Frost win at Grand Casino Arena.

That finish kept the Frost perfect at 5-0 in elimination games. It also denied Montreal a chance to win a playoff series for the first time in its history, with the Victoire still searching for that breakthrough after two straight first-round losses in previous seasons.

Rooney and Desbiens

Maddie Rooney was in goal for Minnesota, while Ann-Renée Desbiens started for Montreal. The game stayed tight until the third period, when Murphy’s goal briefly gave the Victoire the edge before the Frost took control late.

Laura Stacey was penalized after shoving Britta Curl-Salemme into the boards behind the Montreal net, one of the physical moments that broke up the third period. Katy Knoll and Hayley Scamurra were also part of the list of players in this matchup, but Morin supplied the only scoring the Frost needed after Montreal’s lead.

Place Bell awaits

The series is now tied 2-2, and Game 5 was set for Monday at Place Bell. The Frost, the only champion the league has had so far, turned a road through elimination into another chance to keep their season going.

“J’essaie juste de faire mon travail,” Morin said after the final buzzer. “On n’abandonne pas dans ce groupe. On croyait en nous et on a fait ce qu’on devait faire.”
