Ameer Abdullah Joins Jaguars in 11-Year Veteran Signing
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed ameer abdullah on the same day they added another veteran piece to the roster. The move gives Jacksonville an 11-year veteran who has played 154 career games and started 26 times.
Ameer Abdullah’s NFL Track Record
Abdullah entered the league as a second-round pick, going 54th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by Detroit. Since then, he has built a career across five teams, including the Lions from 2015 to 2018, the Vikings from 2018 to 2021, the Panthers in 2021, the Raiders from 2022 to 2024 and the Colts in 2025.
His production has spanned offense and special teams. He has rushed for 2,054 yards and nine touchdowns on 508 carries, caught 219 passes for 1,567 yards and 11 scores, and returned 170 kickoffs for 4,346 yards. He also handled one punt for 91 yards.
Jacksonville Adds Sal Wormley
The Jaguars did more than add Abdullah. They also signed offensive lineman Sal Wormley, who originally entered the NFL with Jacksonville in 2025 as an undrafted free agent and spent last season on the practice squad.
That gives the team a veteran back with 154 games of experience and a lineman already familiar with the organization’s system. Jacksonville’s roster move also sent defensive lineman Maason Smith to the Falcons and waived offensive lineman Cooper Hodges.
For Jacksonville, the immediate change is a deeper backfield and one more proven return option attached to Abdullah’s career resume. The rest of the transaction trimmed one offensive lineman and moved Smith out in the same batch, a reminder that the signing came as part of a broader roster shuffle rather than a single isolated addition.
