Barça Beats Benfica Fc 4-3 to Reach Champions League Final
Barça beat Benfica FC 4-3 and moved into the Champions League final in roller hockey, keeping alive a chance to lift the trophy for the first time in eight years. Ricard Ares’ side will face Porto on Sunday at 7pm CEST after surviving a match that swung back and forth from the opening minutes.
Alabart Strikes Twice
Alabart scored two goals for Barça, including the winner at 43 minutes that made it 4-2. Barça had already gone ahead through Alabart on 4 minutes, only for João Rodrigues to pull Benfica level almost immediately at 1-1.
Marc Grau restored the lead on 33 minutes and Ferran Font pushed it to 3-1 a minute later. Those two quick goals changed the shape of the game before Benfica found another response from the penalty spot on 36 minutes.
Sergi Fernández Holds the Edge
Sergi Fernández made important early saves as Benfica tried to keep the scoreline from slipping away. Barça still carried the sharper finish in front of goal, and that was enough to stay in control even after Benfica kept cutting the gap.
Pau Bargalló brought Benfica back to 4-3 on 48 minutes, but the late push came too late to overturn the result. The margin stayed one goal, and Barça finished the job after leading 1-0, then 3-1 and 4-2.
Porto Waits on Sunday
The final now brings another Portuguese side, Porto, between Barça and a first title in eight years. Ares’ team has already done the hard part by getting through a semifinal that never settled for long, and the last step arrives on Sunday at 7pm CEST.
