Audi previews 2027 Audi Q9 interior, its biggest vehicle ever
Audi previewed the audi q9 interior in Munich, Germany, giving an early look at its 2027 full-size luxury SUV and the brand’s biggest vehicle ever. The model is aimed at an American audience and is set to go after the Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and BMW X7.
Munich Q9 seating layout
The Q9 will have three rows and can be configured with six or seven seats. In the six-seat layout, Audi showed plush captain’s chairs in the second row and two individual seats in the third row, with both rows described as roomy enough for adults.
The third row is said to feel slightly more cramped than an Escalade’s, but far more spacious and comfortable than the third row of a Volvo XC90. In the seven-seat version, a second-row bench can take child seats in all three positions, and partial power adjustment for all seats comes standard.
Audi Q9 power doors
Audi also showed power-operated doors that both open and close automatically, a first for the brand. The exterior handles remain physical, and a single pull and release opens the doors up to 90 degrees. The doors close when a person climbs in, buckles up, or presses the brake pedal.
External sensors can stop a door from swinging too far if space is tight, and they can block opening if an unseen cyclist or car approaches as someone tries to exit. The doors can also be opened and closed from the myAudi app and the key fob.
Q9 cargo and cabin details
Inside, front-row seats can be ordered with heating, ventilation, and massaging functions through the sport seat plus option. Rear-seat occupants get heating for now, and the seats use shoulder-level in-seat light detailing and a sportier design.
The cabin also includes two ventilated wireless charging pads with magnetic locking in the center console and USB-C charging ports. In the trunk, an aluminum rail system with adjustable hooks and anchors is built into the sides, leaving space for larger bags and boxes below.
Audi has not given cabin dimensions for the Q9, but it expects the space to be larger than the Q7, which is due for replacement later this year. That leaves the Q9 positioned as the brand’s new halo SUV, with the most direct competition centered on the American luxury market it is designed to enter.
