Adam Peaty returns for fourth Games in 42-athlete Team England squad
adam peaty is back for a fourth Commonwealth Games after Team England named a 42-athlete swimming squad for Glasgow 2026. The group will race at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, with 28 Olympic stream swimmers and 14 para stream swimmers included in one integrated team.
Peaty Leads England’s Returnees
Ramsay-Peaty’s place gives the squad one of its clearest headline names: a four-time Commonwealth champion and the fastest breaststroke swimmer of all time. He is joined by James Guy and Tom Dean, while Alice Tai returns after winning back-to-back S9 100m Backstroke titles in 2018 and 2022.
Freya Colbert is heading to her second Games after breaking her own British record in the 200m Freestyle at the Aquatics GB Championships last month. Erin Little will make her senior bow after winning the Commonwealth Youth Games title, giving the squad a mix of established medallists and first-time senior names.
Team England’s Integrated Squad
Richard Blackshaw said the swimming team is “immensely proud and excited” to represent Team England and the English swimming community at the Commonwealth Games, calling it “an honour that does not come around often for athletes.” He also said the squad’s “fully integrated nature” brings together Para and Olympic pathway athletes “to compete as one unified group, reflecting the very best of inclusivity and shared ambition.”
Jonathon Riall added: “It’s brilliant to be able to announce such a strong swimming squad for Glasgow 2026.” He pointed to “a number of returning Commonwealth champions and true stars of the sport, alongside some new faces who are set to make their mark this summer.”
Glasgow 2026 Lineup
The squad also includes Poppy Maskill, Rebecca Redfern, William Ellard, Brock Whiston and Louise Fiddes. For Team England, the roster sets the field for both the Olympic stream and para stream in Glasgow, with the competition stage fixed at Tollcross and the team already carrying proven medal form into the meet.
What stands out is the balance: returning champions at the top end, a senior debut for Little, and Colbert arriving with a fresh British record behind her. That leaves the squad with depth across both streams before a swim is taken in Glasgow.
