Davey Todd 2026 Tt Update: Unfit for Isle of Man TT

Davey Todd 2026 tt update: the defending Superbike TT winner has been ruled out of the 2026 Isle of Man TT after being declared medically unfit to race. The decision ends his TT campaign before practice begins, with less than two weeks left before the start of sessions.

Todd crashed during qualifying for the Daytona 200 in March and came away with a broken femur and broken tibia, along with fractures to his foot and nose. He underwent initial surgery in the United States before completing an intensive rehabilitation programme at Formula Medicine in Italy.

Todd and the Superbike field

The 30-year-old had been trying to get back in time for TT 2026, but a panel of specialists concluded his injuries would not recover sufficiently to withstand the physical demands of the course. The race organiser said he would not be given permission to race in 2026.

That leaves the Superbike field without last year’s winner on an 8TEN Racing BMW. Todd beat Michael Dunlop to take that race, and he had spent the last nine weeks pushing to be ready for another start.

Formula Medicine and Italy

Todd said he was “absolutely gutted” not to be on the start line and said, “I've done everything possible to get myself into a position to race, and I'm so grateful to everyone involved in my treatment at Formula Medicine in Italy, plus the awesome support from BMW Motorrad, Monster Energy, and all the amazing people around me.” He also said, “We've left no stone unturned and tried everything possible with the goal of being back for the TT, but unfortunately we've just run out of time.”

He added, “The focus now shifts to next year so I can come back stronger than ever. In the meantime, I'll be supporting my 8TEN Racing team from the sidelines.”
