Fiji Airways, WestJet Add Canada-South Pacific Codeshare Link
fiji airways and WestJet announced a new codeshare partnership on May 12, 2026, giving travelers one booking across both networks and a single check-in experience with checked baggage through to the destination. The agreement links Canadian cities with Fiji and onward points in New Zealand and the South Pacific, tightening the path for passengers moving between North America and Nadi.
Calgary to Halifax on FJ
FJ will be placed on WestJet’s domestic network, including Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Halifax. That lets customers build itineraries inside Canada and then connect into Fiji Airways’ long-haul network without splitting the trip into separate tickets, a practical change for travelers who want one itinerary from departure to arrival.
WS will sit on Fiji Airways’ Vancouver to Nadi flights, extending the partnership beyond Canada’s internal network and into the South Pacific corridor. WestJet guests will also be able to connect through Fiji Airways to Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, giving the tie-up a clear onward route for passengers heading deeper into New Zealand.
Vancouver Gets Three Weekly Flights
Three weekly services will run year-round between Nadi and Vancouver from 18 June, with departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Fiji Airways said it will introduce the Airbus A350 on all Vancouver services from 8 September, which gives the route a defined fleet change after the schedule begins.
Paul Scurrah said the partnership marks an important step in strengthening Fiji’s global connectivity. He added: “Canada represents a growing and high-value market for Fiji and the wider Pacific.” He also said: “This partnership with WestJet makes it easier than ever for Canadian travellers to experience the warmth, culture and natural beauty of Fiji, while also supporting increased visitor flows into our region.”
Canada and Fiji Ties
Jennifer Lalonde called the deal “a welcome development in strengthening the longstanding ties between Canada and Fiji.” She added: “Improved connectivity will make it easier for Canadians to experience the South Pacific; while supporting tourism, trade and people-to-people links that are so important to our relationship.” In January 2026, the Canadian High Commission opened in Suva with a focus on building economic partnerships and climate resiliency, and this route deal now gives those ties a commercial channel in the air.
John Weatherill said the carriers are deepening links between WestJet’s North American network and Fiji Airways’ service to the South Pacific. For travelers, the immediate change is not abstract: one booking, one check-in, and baggage routed through to the destination. The bigger shift is that Canada’s domestic network now connects into Fiji and then onward to New Zealand through a single airline arrangement, turning a long trip into a more unified itinerary.
