Trevor Rogers Returns From IL to Start for Orioles
trevor rogers was back on the mound for the Orioles on the same night he came off the 15-day injured list, starting against the Yankees at Camden Yards. He had not pitched since April 25 because of the flu. Baltimore also moved Jose Espada to Triple-A Norfolk to clear space for him.
Rogers Rejoins Baltimore
The return gives the Orioles their left-hander after a brief absence and drops him straight into a division matchup. Rogers entered with a 4.75 ERA and a 1.451 WHIP in six starts, numbers that make this outing more than a routine activation for a rotation trying to settle in.
His recent work against New York has gone in both directions. Rogers shut out the Yankees on one hit over six innings at Camden Yards on Sept. 19, then allowed six runs in three innings in the Bronx on Sept. 26. Those two starts left him with a 4.60 ERA in four career starts against the Yankees.
Will Warren Opposes Rogers
The matchup also brings Will Warren into a game with useful recent form against Baltimore. On May 1, he held the Orioles to one earned run, two total runs and three hits while striking out nine in 6 1/3 innings. He came in with a 3.46 ERA in eight starts and 53 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings this season.
For New York hitters, Rogers has already produced a few clear outcomes. Paul Goldschmidt was 1-for-10 against him, Aaron Judge was 1-for-8 with a home run, and Ryan McMahon went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. That history puts extra weight on the first innings at Camden Yards, where Baltimore handed the ball back to a starter it had been without since April 25.
Camden Yards Rotation Shift
Espada’s move to Norfolk was the roster price for getting Rogers back. The Orioles used the opening to restore a left-handed starter for a game against a Yankees lineup that has already seen him twice in September, once for six scoreless innings and once for a short outing that flipped the other way.
That leaves Baltimore with a direct test rather than a soft landing. Rogers returned healthy enough to start, the Orioles made the roster move to fit him in, and the Yankees drew a pitcher whose last two meetings with them produced both extremes.
