Jordin Canada as Reese lifts Dream in 91-90 Atlanta debut

jordin canada had Angel Reese's first Atlanta Dream game end with a 91-90 win in Minneapolis. Reese finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks and two steals, then blocked Emese Hof's layup at the buzzer to hold off the Minnesota Lynx.

Atlanta's 19-point climb

Reese's debut came on May 9, 2026, and Atlanta erased a 19-point deficit before winning by one. Allisha Gray scored 24 points, while Rhyne Howard and Naz Hillmon added 15 apiece, giving the Dream enough offense to survive a night when Reese shot 4-of-11 and committed five turnovers.

The last play gave the box score a cleaner shape than Reese's own rhythm did. She was the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 50 career double-doubles, getting there in 65 games and beating Tina Charles' 75-game mark, but she still described the night as rough for her personally.

Reese and the last possession

Reese said, "My experience has been great because we got a win" and added, "It was rough for me tonight but this is what you call a team. Being able to have players that have your back and always will pick you up, even when you're not having the best game. Always in your ear, putting a lot of confidence into you."

She also said, "I knew I needed to come up for my teammates on that last possession and get that block no matter what happened before that." That is the sharper read on the night: Atlanta got a first look at Reese's defensive range, but the debut also showed how much the Dream needed Gray, Howard and Hillmon to carry the scoring load while Reese sorted out her own efficiency.

Atlanta goes to Dallas on Tuesday night to face the Wings, carrying a win built on a comeback and a final stop. Reese's debut gave the Dream both a milestone and a warning sign: the record arrived, but the shot selection and turnovers still left room for cleaner nights ahead.
