Andrés Giménez Hits 2 Homers, Jays Game Today Still Ends in Loss

Andrés Giménez powered jays game today with two home runs and five RBIs, but the Blue Jays still lost after the Rays built an early lead. Toronto got the offense it needed from one bat and not nearly enough from the rest of the lineup.

Giménez Opens Fast

Giménez put Toronto in front in the first inning with a three-run home run. He added a two-run shot in the seventh, giving him five RBIs in a game the Blue Jays could not finish off.

Those swings were the loudest part of a Toronto lineup that managed only 6 hits. Okamoto, Varsho, Sanchez and Straw each had a single, while Guerrero, Springer and Clement went hitless.

Gausman Could Not Hold It

Kevin Gausman took the loss after allowing 10 hits and 7 runs in 4.2 innings. He gave up 6 earned runs, walked none and struck out 5, and he also recorded his 2,000th career strikeout in the game.

The Rays answered Toronto’s early burst by scoring 3 runs before the Blue Jays batted, then added 2 more in the second inning. Jonathan Aranda homered in the fifth, and Braydon Fisher gave up the eighth run.

Toronto’s Late Push

Chandler Simpson reached base on a ball Gausman bobbled near the mound, then later advanced and stole third before Tampa Bay scored again in the fourth. Clement drove a ball deep in the ninth, but it was caught, and the comeback never fully took shape.

Mason Fluharty, Joe Mantiply and Yariel Rodriguez each threw scoreless innings, but Toronto’s pitching staff had already absorbed too much damage. Giménez delivered the kind of one-man output that usually changes a game, yet the early deficit and Gausman’s rough start left the Blue Jays chasing instead of controlling the night.
