Dubois is younger than Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury were when they became two-time heavyweight world champions, a detail that adds another layer to the win without changing the immediate fact of it: he left Manchester with his second world title run complete, after surviving the worst moments of the night and closing the fight in the 11th round.
For Wardley, the stoppage ended the title challenge before it reached the scorecards. For Dubois, it turned a night that began with two knockdowns into a title-changing finish and a fresh answer to the doubts that had trailed him for years.
