Derek Chisora: Dubois Stops Wardley in 11th for Two-Time Crown
Daniel Dubois stopped Fabio Wardley in the 11th round on Saturday night in Manchester and became a two-time world champion. The 28-year-old had been knocked down twice before turning the fight around, a swing that changed the title picture in front of 18,000 at the Co-op Live Arena.
Dubois was on the canvas within 10 seconds of the opening bell, then went down again in the third round. He also took a tactical knee later in that round, but he stayed in the fight long enough to finish it before the final bell.

The setting added weight to the result. A crowd of 18,000 watched a bout that had already been framed by Wardley’s fight-week remark that if Dubois was not a boxer, he would be a binman. By the end, Dubois had answered with a stoppage, not a debate.
That was a sharp reversal for a fighter who has spent years hearing questions about his heart, mentality and toughness. He had also carried defeats to Joe Joyce and to Oleksandr Usyk, with two losses to Usyk among the marks that had followed him into this title fight.
Don Charles Stands Behind Dubois
After the fight, trainer Don Charles pushed back hard on the criticism around his fighter. “No human being on this planet could ever question this kid - certainly don't do that in front of me,” he said. “Tonight he erased any doubt of all the negative talk. I'm glad the fight went that way so he could demonstrate this quitting narrative is not right.”
Dubois is younger than Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury were when they became two-time heavyweight world champions, a detail that adds another layer to the win without changing the immediate fact of it: he left Manchester with his second world title run complete, after surviving the worst moments of the night and closing the fight in the 11th round.
For Wardley, the stoppage ended the title challenge before it reached the scorecards. For Dubois, it turned a night that began with two knockdowns into a title-changing finish and a fresh answer to the doubts that had trailed him for years.
