Youssef Chermiti Says Rangers Season Failed After Hibs Loss
Youssef Chermiti said Rangers’ season was a failure after the 2-1 loss to Hibs, a result that leaves the club heading for a lower points tally than last season. The 21-year-old forward also said he wants to come back and win the title next season.
Chermiti on Tavernier at Ibrox
James Tavernier’s pre-match exit from the squad set the tone before kick-off at Ibrox. He had waved goodbye to the crowd, then pulled out of the matchday group after a disagreement with Danny Rohl.
Chermiti did not dress up the moment. “Obviously, everyone wanted to see him playing today. It’s his last game at Ibrox, so of course it’s a sad moment.” He also said the situation was between Tavernier and the manager.
Rangers’ fourth straight defeat
The loss to Hibs was Rangers’ fourth defeat in a row. Chermiti put the scale of the drop-off plainly: “Yeah, for sure, because this season was a failure for us. Obviously, we need to improve and we’ll go again next season.”
That run leaves Rangers closing the campaign below last season’s points total, with the gap reflected in a team that had entered the split with hope but could not stop the slide. Chermiti said the team had a goal and did not get it.
Chermiti’s next target
The forward’s message for next season was direct. “I want to win the title, that’s what I’m thinking about.”
He said his own adjustment in Scotland took time before he settled down more. “As I said in previous conferences, I feel more confident in the team and in the country as well.” For Rangers, the late-season damage is already fixed in the results column; for Chermiti, the target for the next one is set.
